Working on a Cat Bed

I was inspired by the plastic bag jar (see last post) to take on a cat bed made of some Icelandic wool from deep in my stash.

So far, it’s going well. I’m using a Corduroy Purled Post Stitch/ YO-Top Post Stitch Combo to make a nice thick fabric for the base, but in a spiral.
Top of fabric:

I’m really enjoying my interchangeable Knitter’s Pride hooks on this project.
I’ve got a larger (7.0 mm) hook for the wool and a smaller J hook for the acrylic return row that’s chasing it.

Life is fine!

That is going to be one very happy kitty when their new bed is made! Love the color of the wool.

  2. Thanks!
I’m feeling guilty about using such lovely yarn for a cat bed,
but here in SC, it’s too warm for most applications.

I’ve run out of the wool and am adding an acrylic end to the sack shape to roll up inside, for comfy pillow-type sides.

I’m getting a bit tired of this project, so you should be seeing pictures of it soon.
